"And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart."

"And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him."
- Luke 2 : 39-40
To commemorate the choice in baptism of faith by the subject, this piece was created as a preliminary study to a larger painted piece. The focus was to be of the the subject reaching out to the Lord while surrounded by younger siblings. They still have opportunity to grow before making a choice to follow the example of older siblings, as shown by the eldest who is next to Christ where baptismal covenants have already been made. In the distance is a vast watered body symbolic of the need to enter into the cleansing wash of baptism by immersion.
